本日、SophiaCompress(BREW) Version2.0 を世界マーケット向けに出荷開始した。この製品は日本ではKDDIが採用するBREWのアプリケーションを半分のサイズに圧縮するソフトツールである。Googleで「BREW」と「圧縮」又は「compress」のキーワードで検索していただければ分かるのだが、BREWアプリを圧縮するという機能に関して世界で「唯一・無二」の製品である。
BREWの世界マーケットは毎年300％以上の伸びを示している。海外から弊社へ寄せられる問い合わせ件数から察すれば、昨年末あたりからは海外マーケットのひろがりが急加速している様相すら感じ取れる。
今年は海外ビジネスというものを研究する年とし、来年以降本格化させる目論見でいる。

2003年2月KDDIが日本に導入した、BREW (※注1)が搭載された携帯電話が現在1000万台を越える規模で普及しています。今年度秋にはNTTDoCoMoからもBREW対応端末が発売されます。海外ではBREWを導入している端末メーカー数は３４、通信事業者数は45まで拡大しており(2005年6月現在)、毎年300％増の勢いで総ダウンロード数も急増し、海外市場におけるBREWアプリの圧縮ニーズが急激に高まっています。

2001年1月に米国クアルコム社が発表した携帯電話向けソフトウェアの規格。「ブリュー」もしくは「ブルー」と読む。異なる携帯電話機のOSの仕様差を吸収し、単一のコンパイル後のプログラムをインターネットからダウンロードし、さまざまな携帯電話機でそのまま高速に動作できるように設計されている。日本ではKDDIが2003年2月よりBREWサービスを提供開始、NTTDoCoMoが今年秋頃からのサービスの開始を発表している。その他にも世界的な規模で普及が進んでいる。

The cell phones equipped with BREW (*1), introduced in Japan by KDDI in December of 2003, are now more than 10 million units. From the fall of this year, NTTDoCoMo, too, will start selling terminals with BREW support. Presently (June, 2005), there are 34 BREW equipped terminal makers abroad and as many as 45 communications companies are using the technology.The number of downloads has increased 300% every year and the need for a compressing tool for BREW in the foreign markets is dramatically growing.
Following this market trend, Sophia Cradle developed SophiaCompress(BREW)(*2), the world’s only BREW application compression utility. With SophiaCompress(BREW), it is possible to make smaller applications with more functionality and it has been adopted with success by game makers, content providers, system integrators, etc.
On the June 16th, 2005, Sophia Cradle starts to sell the English version of SophiaCompress(BREW) to overseas software development companies.
One license for this product costs 30,000 yens. Estimating that the world market is 5 times larger than the domestic one, a 500% increase in sales is expected. For this year, we are planning to sell 1,000 licenses all over the world.
