BREW には6種類のバージョンがあり、更に日本語、英語、中国語など多言語対応している。それらの複数の BREW SDK を1台のパソコンにインストールしたとしても、それぞれの BREW SDK を自動的に切り替えて使える、便利なツールの無償提供を開始した。

携帯電話向けソフト開発の株式会社ソフィア・クレイドル（本社：京都市、代表取締役社長：杉山和徳、以下 ソフィア・クレイドル）は、多言語、複数バージョンの BREW に対応した『BREW SDK 切り替えツール(BREW SDK Switcher)』をバージョンアップしました。本バージョンでは、日本語と英語以外に、中国語、韓国語、ポルトガル語に対応し、また BREW 3.0 及び 3.1 にも対応しています。2005年7月26日より2005 年8月末までの期間限定で同社サイトにて無償提供します。

現在、BREW【※１】対応の携帯電話は世界マーケットで急増しています。そして、BREW アプリを開発するための BREW SDK【※２】 は多言語化し、最新バージョンは3.1 になるなど様々な種類が存在します。しかしながら1台のパソコンで、これらの様々な種類の BREW アプリを開発するには、その度に BREW SDK を手動で切り替える必要があり、極めて煩雑な処理が必要でした。
この度、ソフィア・クレイドルは、この BREW SDK を、”１クリックの単純な操作”で、自動で切り替えるツール『BREW SDK Switcher』を、日本語、英語、中国語、韓国語、ポルトガル語などBREWがサポートする全ての言語に対応し、最新の BREW 3.1 にも対応するようにバージョンアップしました。また、米国マイクロソフト社の最新版の開発環境である Visual Studio .Net にも対応するようになりました。
なお、本ツールは下記URLにて、2005年7月26日から2005年8月末日までの期間限定で無償提供されます。

2001年1月に米国クアルコム社が発表した携帯電話向けソフトウェアの規格。「ブリュー」もしくは「ブルー」と読む。異なる携帯電話機の OS の仕様差を吸収し、単一のコンパイル後のプログラムをインターネットからダウンロードし、さまざまな携帯電話機でそのまま高速に動作できるように設計されている。日本では KDDI が2003年2月より BREW サービスを提供開始、NTTDoCoMo が今年秋頃からのサービスの開始を発表している。その他にも世界的な規模で普及が進んでいる。

Qualcomm社が提供する、Windows 上で動くBREW開発キット。BREW プログラミングを行う際にはこの BREW SDK のインストールが必須となります。

BREW is a software standard released by the American company Qualcomm in January of 2001. BREW has been designed to absorb the differences in OS specs of different cell phone models, and with a single compile, a program can be downloaded from the Internet and used with fast operation in many different cell phone models.In Japan, KDDI started to offer its BREW service in February, 2003.Now (July, 2005), 45 communications carriers in 24 countries are adopting BREW. BREW is rapidly becoming popular at world level.
